Reading and Phonics in Year One

Children are expected to read three times a week at home with an adult and are expected to have their book bag, with their reading books and record book in school daily.
We regularly assess our children to ensure we are continuously allowing our children to progress in their reading.

In EYFS we learn Step 2 and Step 3 sight words.
In Year One we revise Step 2 and Step 3, and learn Step 5 and Step 7 sight words.
